Monty out of UW Hospital

After undergoing successful surgery Saturday to repair facial fractures, defensive end Joe Monty was released from the UW Hospital and Clinics Tuesday afternoon.

Monty, who will be a senior with the Badger football team this fall, had been hospitalized since being involved in a motor vehicle accident on the UW-Madison campus early last Friday.

I'm pleased to report that Joe has been released from the hospital,\ UW athletic trainer Clark Pearson said. ""He will continue to be treated by UW physicians and sports medicine staff.""

Monty started 12 of 13 games for the Badgers in 2005. He made 30 tackles and earned the team's Jay Seiler Coaches Appreciation Award, annually awarded to a player who has contributed to the team's success to the best of his abilities.
