The University of Wisconsin Board of Regents meeting concluded Sunday with discussion of the Growth Agenda for Wisconsin, an appeal for more funding through the Wisconsin GI Bill and awards.
UW System President Kevin Reilly touted the Growth Agenda for Wisconsin, a plan to achieve funding for education and improve Wisconsin's economy through state investment.
Additionally, regents expounded on the new Wisconsin GI Bill, which Secretary John Scocos said would supplement the federal GI Bill, weakened by inflation. Additionally, UW-Madison junior Liz O'Herrin, a Staff Sgt. in the Air National Guard, spoke of her transition into college following two tours of the Middle East.
Finally, the regents awarded Teaching Excellence Awards to John Koker, a UW-Oshkosh mathematics professor, Kathryn Olson, a UW-Milwaukee associate professor of communications and the history department of UW-Eau Claire.
