Two well-known political faces with reporting backgrounds will be on campus in April as part of the Writers in Residence program.
Jim VandeHei, UW-Oshkosh graduate and executive editor of the Washington D.C. political website, Politico.com, will be the spring Public Affairs Writer in Residence. He will meet with journalism, political science and public policy students the week of April 8.
VandeHei was a political reporter at the Washington Post, but decided to leave the job in order to start up the website with Post colleague James Harris. The website, which launched in January, has garnered much media attention, for its shift into the realm of new media.
Charles Gasparino, an on-air editor and business reporter for CNBC, will be at UW-Madison the week of April 16 to speak to journalism and business classes.
Gasparino gives live CNBC updates on Wall Street trades throughout the day. He has also written two Wall Street related books—the latest out this last August.
