Marcus Bonner pled guilty to three sexual assault charges on Monday for his role in a gang rape of a 23-year-old woman on the 500 block of University Avenue on Sept. 4, 2006, WISC-TV reported.
Bonner originally faced nine felony charges because of his alleged involvement in the gang rape, which included two other men. The two men—Anthony Freda and Mario Amaya—still await trial in the case.
The assault took place near Ian's Pizza. Amaya was an employee at the restaurant when the assault occurred. The complaint from the initial case said Amaya told police Bonner and Freda were having consensual sex with the woman.
However, several days later, a manager at Ian's, Nick Stratman, said the three men recounted the assault and passed along the details to one another.
Bonner, 21, was sentenced to nine months in jail for each of the three sexual assault charges he pled guilty to, but was released because the time he spent in jail prior to his trial fullfilled the nine-month sentence, according to WISC-TV.
