Police investigate area sexual assault

Madison police are investigating the alleged sexual assault of a woman at her downtown apartment in the early morning hours of Oct. 28 following the Freakfest celebration.

According to police, a number of Freakfest attendees were sleeping at the N. Paterson Street apartment - located on the east side of the Capitol - of the 21-year-old victim following the festivities. The victim awoke around 6:30 a.m. to find the suspect sleeping next to her. Neither the victim nor any of the people sleeping in the apartment recognized him.

The victim then began to scream and the alleged attacker immediately fled the scene, police said.

Police have released a sketch of the suspect. He is described as an African American male, 6'3 and 175 pounds. He was reportedly last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and jeans.
