2007 death of Kelly Nolan still unsolved

A grim anniversary is set for Thursday, marking two years since the body of UW-Whitewater student Kelly Nolan was found after she disappeared from Madison in June 2007.

Nolan went missing June 23, 2007, after being last seen in the State Street area drinking with her friends between midnight and 3 a.m. Madison police searched the downtown area and later found her body 10 miles south on Schneider Road near the towns of Dunn and Oregon.

MPD Central District Captain Mary Schauf said the case is still active and she has two full-time detectives still working on it. She declined to comment on how the case is progressing.

Police have not yet stated a cause of death in the case, but it is being treated as a homicide.

Nolan was a senior at UW-Whitewater who was working in Madison for the summer. Anyone with information related to the case is encouraged to call Madison Area Crime Stoppers at 266-6014.
