Gov. Jim Doyle said Thursday Wisconsin will receive more than $14.5 million in American Recovery and Reinvestment Act funds that will go toward maintaining 400 jobs and producing energy efficient projects in Wisconsin.
The governor said the awards will help Wisconsin reach the goal of generating 25 percent of the state's electricity from renewable resources by 2025. According to a statement, the new energy projects will save enough energy to power 15,000 homes for a year.
Doyle said the awards will help move Wisconsin forward as ""one of the greenest manufacturing states.""
""With this funding, we will be able to help these companies become more energy efficient so they can retain their competitive edge, reduce energy costs and carbon emissions and create good-paying jobs to support Wisconsin families,"" he said in a statement.
According to the statement, nine Wisconsin companies, including Didion Milling and Kohler, will receive part of the $14.5 million.
