Marv Van Kekerix is set to become the interim chancellor of UW Colleges and UW-Extension, the UW System announced Wednesday.
Van Kekerix will replace previous UW Colleges and UW-Extension Chancellor David Wilson, who announced his resignation early last December. Wilson plans to become president of Morgan State University, located in Maryland.
According to a statement from the UW System, Van Kekerix will serve as chancellor until January 2011.
""We're fortunate to have an interim leader who already understands these statewide networks, partnerships and diverse educational programs,"" UW System President Kevin Reilly said in a statement. ""I have full confidence that Marv will keep UW Colleges and UW-Extension on a steady course through this time of transition.""
The UW System Board of Regents will vote on Van Kekerix's final approval next month. He currently serves as the UW-Madison vice provost and dean of the Division of Continuing Studies.
