Sophomore forward Matt Thurber has been suspended from the men's hockey team for unspecified alleged violations of the UW Department of Athletics' Student-Athlete Discipline Policy, the department announced Tuesday. Thurber did not take part in team practice Tuesday afternoon and will not be a part of any games or practices until the suspension is lifted.
When asked about Thurber's absence from practice, head coach Mike Eaves said, ""he's got off-ice issues going on,"" but did not elaborate beyond that.
The Athletic Department did not specify a time for his return, saying Thurber will be suspended, ""pending the availability of further information relating to his case.""
Thurber has played in nine games this season, often sharing playing time on the Badgers' fourth line.
