A 41-year-old Madison man was arrested for attempted burglary and resisting arrest, according to a police report.
The report said Alonzo Washington was attempting to rob a home on the 400 block of West Mifflin Street when Madison Police Department officers were dispatched to the scene.
According to the police report, the suspect retreated back into the residence upon seeing the officers. The suspect then lunged at the officer and had a short physical confrontation before the officer was able to control him, according to the report.
According to the MPD, Washington was attempting to steal a laptop but abandoned it when he saw the police officer. No one was injured, and the suspect was taken into custody.
