A man who may be behind nine sexual assaults that occurred between 11:00 p.m. Sunday and 10:00 a.m. Monday morning in Madison was taken into custody Monday.
Robert Rickaby, 22, of Portage, Wis., was arrested by Madison police on suspicion of being linked to at least one of the assaults. He is being charged with second degree sexual assault and false imprisonment.
Rickaby is not a UW-Madison student and was in Madison visiting friends, according to Madison- WKOW.
The charge facing Rickaby stems from an early morning assault that occurred at 21 N. Park Street Monday according to Madison- WKOW.
Rickaby was arrested near Breese Terrace, located next to Camp Randall, around 10:15 a.m. Monday, and has been positively identified by one of the victims.
Joel DeSpain, Madison Police Department spokesperson, explained that even though the police cannot currently connect the suspect to all the other cases, there are a lot of similarities
In addition to the charges Rickaby faces in Madison, he also has a pending fourth-degree sexual assault case and a disorderly conduct charge in Sauk County according to Madison- WKOW.
According to police, more charges are expected to be made while the suspect is currently staying in the Dane County Jail awaiting a court appearance.
The City of Madison and UW-Madison Police Departments are both working on the cases, and are asking anyone who may have been a victim of a similar attack to call Madison Area Crime Stoppers at 266-6014.
