People young and old gathered to check out the newly renovated Lisa Link Peace Park Friday.
The remodeled park has a large grassy area with tables and chairs. Another feature of the park is a ""peace pole"" with the inscription ""May peace prevail on earth"" written in many languages.
The visitor center is open seven days a week. It will have workers that are able to answer questions about the city as well as give out maps. The visitor center will also feature public bathrooms.
Located on the side of the visitor center is the ATM, which was a topic of controversy.
According to a City of Madison ordinance, the park was originally one of only two places on State Street where panhandling was allowed. However, the implementation of the ATM prohibits panhandling within 50 feet of the machine.
In addition a rule bans people from entering the park after hours, among other regulations.
