State Rep. Jeff Wood, I-Chippewa Falls, was sentenced to 60 days in jail after pleading no contest Wednesday to charges of operating a vehicle with controlled substance, according to Marathon County Court records.
The charges were changed from a fourth-offense OWI, to which Wood previously pleaded not guilty.
Wood, who already served 45 days in jail earlier in the year, was given two years of probation for the incident from September 2009 when he was arrested for driving under the influence of prescription drugs.
His DOT license was revoked for 30 months, and he was also sentenced to alcohol assessment.
The embattled state assemblyman was censured last April by the legislature after avoiding expulsion charges brought about by state Rep. Steve Nass, R-Whitewater.
Wood has previously apologized for the incident, and said he was ""deeply embarrassed"" about his actions.
After the incident, Wood, the legislature's only Independent, agreed not to run for the same position he's held since 2002. Democrat C.W. King and Republican Tom Larson are running to take his place.
