A 39-year-old Madison man was convicted Wednesday on one count of attempted first-degree murder and two counts of reckless injury for a shooting he committed last year.
Last November, Donte Beasley shot his 42-year-old girlfriend and their two young children, ages 8 and 7, in their home on the 1400 block of Loreen Drive, according to the Madison Police incident report.
Police said Beasley was intoxicated when he started the confrontation that lead to the shooting.
Zenolia Rice, Beasley's girlfriend, suffered multiple bullet wounds but was able to rush to a neighbor's home for assistance, police said.
Beasley was found in his home with self-inflicted wounds to his neck, according to police.
Although he will not receive his sentence for another two months, Beasley will serve no more than 25 years in prison because of a plea bargain, according to the Wisconsin State Journal.
