The Alcohol License Review Commission granted Logan's Madtown, Osaka House and Tiki Shack alcohol- and entertainment-related licenses Wednesday night.
According to the submitted license proposal, the owners of Logan's Madtown planned on approaching the board with the request for an entertainment license covering events for patrons 18 or older. However, after discussion between restaurant owners before the meeting they decided to apply for a 21 and over license and were approved.
Logan representatives said they hope to host jazz groups and other live bands as a form of nighttime entertainment in the future.
""As in the past, as you know, we have always strongly opposed the issuing of 18 year-old entertainment licenses,"" board member Pamela Bean said.
Osaka House at 506 State St. requested a liquor and beer license for their establishment.
Board members said they were concerned because the restaurant owners had not yet contacted Madison Police Department Chief Noble Wray. Osaka representatives said that was because Wray is on vacation.
However, the ALRC granted the Osaka House the license with the stipulation that owners speak with Wray this week to get his approval.
The Tiki Shack is moving from their location at 122 State St. to a smaller venue two doors down at 126 State St., and applied for a new license. The ALRC granted their request for an alcohol license with the condition that the Tiki Shack continues to serve food during all hours of operation.
