The University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health has selected Dr. Elizabeth Petty as the new senior associate dean for academic affairs, the university announced Tuesday.
Petty, who will begin the position this summer, is currently the associate dean for medical student education at the University of Michigan Medical School. She is also a professor of internal medicine and human genetics.
The position will mean a return to Wisconsin for Petty, who received her medical degree from the UW Medical School in 1986. Before attending UW, she obtained her BA in Biology and Art History from Clarke College in Dubuque, Iowa.
Petty focuses her research on genetic mapping and syndrome identification. Outside of the laboratory, she is ""actively engaged in collaborative research projects to explore how people understand and use information about genetics in their lives and the impact advances in genetics…has on them,"" according to her University of Michigan webpage.
