The West Beltline Highway between Gammon Road and Whitney Way was temporarily shut down for three hours Tuesday due to falling ice.
The large chunks of ice fell onto the highway from the tower of WMTV, the local NBC station, starting around 2 p.m., Madison Police Department spokesperson Joel DeSpain said.

There were no reports of ice striking moving vehicles, DeSpain said. Ice was, however, hitting the roadway.
All lanes of the West Beltline Highway reopened around 4:40 p.m. Tuesday.
