SIX WHITES BACK TO SCHOOL
NEW ORLEANS—Six white children slipped past segregationist housewives to atend school with one Negro girl today in New Orleans. The housewife group—intent on enforcing a boycott on the integrated school—became so infuriated they began chasing bystanders. They also ran to the home of one of the students and shattered a car window with a brick.
No one was hurt.
LUMUMBA IN KASAI
LEOPOLDVILLE, the Congo—
Ousted Congolese Premier Lumumba is reported to have reached Kasai province and placed himself under protection of UN troops from Ghana. He disappeared from Leopoldville after eluding his guards on Sunday.
RUSS LAUNCHES NEW SPACESHIP
MOSCOW—Russia has launched a five-ton ""Ark-nik"" spaceship, loaded with two dogs and other living creatures. A Russian scientist says unless the orbiting spaceship is brought down very soon it may hit the earth's atmostphere and burn up. A British spokesman from the tracking station at Jodrell Bank said they expect a similar launching with a man aboard any day now.
