After filing paperwork with the Federal Election Commission this weekend, two more Wisconsin Republican legislators can now fundraise for the U.S. Senate seat being vacated by Sen. Herb Kohl.
State Sen. Frank Lasee, R-DePere, and Assembly Speaker Jeff Fitzgerald, R-Horicon, both now can start fundraising for possible Senate bids.
Lasee, who formed an exploratory committee for the seat, said he was ""humbled"" by the positive feedback he received about his campaign.
""Taxpayers are looking for a consistent conservative with the backbone and determination to stand up to the big spenders in Washington,"" Lasee said in a statement.
Former Wisconsin Gov. Tommy Thompson also announced he will file his papers to the FEC Tuesday which will officially put him in the race for the seat, weeks after he announced members of his campaign and applied to raise money, suggesting his intentions to run.
Currently, only former Republican Congressman Mark Neumann and U.S. Rep Tammy Baldwin, D-Madison, have announced they will be running for the seat.
