A public meeting to discuss a $67.5 million project to expand a gas-fired heating and cooling plant on the west side of UW-Madison's campus will take place March 1.
The plan involves constructing a 42,000 square-foot addition to the northwest corner of the facility, called the West Campus Cogeneration Facility, which provides steam heat and chilled-water air-conditioning to campus.
The addition would provide space for new cooling towers, chillers and pumping systems.
Construction is projected to begin this October and be completed by August 2014.
The meeting will take place at 5:30 p.m. in room 132 of the Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation building located at 610 Walnut St.
Details of the plan and its potential environmental impact can be viewed in the project's environmental impact assessment.
