Former UW-Madison Chancellor Biddy Martin canceled her Saturday speech at the Madison Civics Club due to “a flare-up of an old back problem,” she tweeted Friday.
Martin, who is now the president of Amherst College, was scheduled to speak about the impact of new technologies on university education and instruction.
In addition to canceling her speech at UW-Madison, Martin cancelled plans to speak in Minneapolis and Chicago.
In her place at the Civics Club, UW-Madison’s Chief of Police Sue Riseling discussed the role of police at last February’s protests at the Capitol.
