Man beaten in West Johnson Street parking lot

A 23-year-old Madison man was knocked unconscious while trying to stop a fight between two groups of people in a West Johnson Street parking lot early Saturday morning.

While the victim and his friend were waiting for a taxi in a parking lot just west of Logan’s Madtown bar, people in a red SUV and another group in the parking lot began to trash-talk each other, said DeSpain.

The suspect, a 23-to 28-years-old black male, exited the passenger side of the car and began to punch the victim, according to police. The victim fought back but was knocked unconscious.
