Madison Police Department detectives arrested the second suspect in the May 19 downtown shooting Wednesday night.
Acting on a tip, MPD detectives drove to 20-year-old Darrion Brown’s home in Dolton, Illinois, a small town near Chicago, according to Madison Police Department spokesperson Joel DeSpain.
DeSpain said police arrested Brown without incident and recovered his handgun. Brown is currently in the Cook County jail and will be sent back to Wisconsin, according to police.
The shots Brown allegedly fired on the 600 block of University Avenue near Segredo and Johnny O’s Sports Lounge injured the three known victims in the incident, according to DeSpain.
This past Saturday, Manitowoc police officers contacted the MPD after they arrested 22-year-old Derek Cannon, the other alleged shooter, on three counts of first degree reckless endangerment for using a dangerous weapon, according to police.
“I am absolutely enthused with the police department and the officers that investigated the crime and the other law enforcement officials who helped to bring both the alleged suspects into custody,” Ald. Scott Resnick, District 8, said.
Although two alleged shooters are in custody, police have not ruled out the possibility that a third gun was used because detectives found a blood trail leading away from the crime scene, according to DeSpain.
