University of Wisconsin-Madison students, faculty and staff will receive a test alert from the WiscAlerts notification system Tuesday morning.
According to a university release, the test will run between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. Tuesday.
The UW-Madison Police Department will send out the test alert via email, text messages and voice calls. Notifications will also appear on the UW-Madison home page, Facebook and Twitter.
WiscAlerts is a notification system for emergency situations which the UWPD uses to inform students and staff of active emergencies and how to stay safe.
“UWPD regularly tests the system to ensure messages are being delivered in a timely way,” according to the news release.
All campus community members will automatically receive emails. However, users will only receive a text message if they have signed up for cell phone notifications through the services tab under MyUW.
The UWPD generally sends basic notifications through WiscAlerts and makes more information available on the UW-Madison website.
