Ledell Zellers announced Sunday her candidacy as alder for District 2 in the city of Madison.
The District 2 seat is currently occupied by Ald. Bridget Maniaci, who has decided not to run for re-election when the current term ends April 16.
Zellers said she plans to work on issues important to District 2 such as safe neighborhoods, sustainable development and diverse housing options, according to a press release.
“These are issues that affect us all,” Zellers said in the statement. “At this point I am focused on hearing more from the residents of the district about their concerns, hopes and ideas.”
Zellers has lived in District 2 since 2001 and is currently the Human Resources Director for the Wisconsin Investment Board, according to the release.
She also serves as the chair of the Downtown Coordinating Committee, is a member of Capitol Neighborhoods Inc., Madison Symphony Orchestra League Board and the Madison Trust for Historic Preservation, among other city committees, according to the statement.
