Solomon, Palm will not seek re-election in 2013

Ald. Brian Solomon, District 10, and Ald. Larry Palm, District 15, announced Tuesday they will not seek re-election in 2013.

Both alders said in separate press releases that due to redistricting in 2010 they no longer live in the district they currently represent, which has affected their decision not to run for a Common Council seat when the current term ends April 16.

“[Redistricting] left me with three options: move, run for District 13 alder or not seek re-election,” Solomon said in a statement. “I have opted for the latter.”

Palm, who has served as District 15 alder for eight years, also agreed redistricting affected his decision.

“I’ve had a wonderful opportunity and treasure my time on the Common Council,” Palm said in a statement. “Unfortunately, being redistricted out of District 15 was too difficult to overcome.”

Palm, Ald. Lauren Cnare, District 3, and Ald. Jill Johnson, District 16, will host an informational meeting Dec. 9 at 2 p.m. at the Pinney Branch Library for interested potential candidates.
