A man approached a University of Wisconsin-Madison student at Memorial Library's study area Tuesday and demanded the student's cell phone and other items.
The female student gave the items to the suspect, according to UW-Madison Police Department spokesperson Lt. Mark Silbernagel. She was not harmed during the incident.
UW-Madison police are “actively looking for the suspect,” according to a UWPD statement. The student described the suspect as a black male, approximately 5’8” in his early thirties.
According to Silbernagel, police are reviewing video footage in attempt to identify the suspect, and will release further information as the case develops.
