U.S. Senate candidate Tommy Thompson, pounding the podium, rallied thousands gathered at the State Fair Grounds in Milwaukee Friday before introducing Mitt Romney to the stage.
“I am so pumped up,” Thompson said to roaring applause.
The former Wisconsin governor is in the midst of a heated, coin-flip election against Madison Democrat Tammy Baldwin.
With only four days left in the election, Friday’s rally was energetic, the crowd frequently chanting “four more days!” as a lineup of significant state political figures took the stage.
Polls suggest Obama leads, if only by a few percentage points, in the state, but Republicans Friday said Obama’s frequent visits to the state suggests a tight race here.
In just the span of five days, Obama will be in the state three times, and Romney along with his running mate Paul Ryan have been campaigning in the state hard leading up to the election Tuesday.
