The University of Wisconsin-Madison was named among the top 10 universities in the nation Monday for the number of students studying abroad for 2010-’11 academic year, according to the 2012 Open Doors Report on International Education Exchange.
The report was conducted by the Institute of International Education, which is a non-profit cultural education exchange program.
While last year the university ranked 10th in the nation with 2,169 students, UW-Madison placed ninth this year despite having 10 fewer students—2,159—participating.
UW-Madison also ranked higher on the list in related categories, including having the fourth most students studying abroad for a semester and the sixth most students studying abroad for a year.
According to a statement released by the university, the top study abroad locations for UW-Madison students were Spain, the United Kingdom and China.
