In her Monday press conference, head coach Bobbie Kelsey announced that sophomore guard Lindsay Smith has chosen to transfer and will no longer be a part of the team effective immediately.
“The situation with Lindsay, she felt like she wanted more playing time,” Kelsey stated. “It wasn’t a situation where she wasn’t getting an opportunity, in my opinion. I have nothing but high praises for Lindsay. She’s going to contribute wherever she lands.”
Wisconsin (4-3 overall) is coming off a 69-50 victory over Alabama Sunday, and will face Marquette (4-2) Wednesday night. Kelsey addressed the team’s improvements, specifically rebounding. The head coach had been stressing the importance of getting rebounds in the past few weeks.
“You get what you emphasize,” she said. “It’s like anything else. If the ball is dropping, you keep shooting. If you’re getting rebounds, you keep going after them. And so that’s what we did, and I think the kids did a really good job with that.”
On the injury front, senior guard Taylor Wurtz is out with a back injury, where Kelsey says that doctors suspect that something is pressing on a nerve. Tipoff against Marquette is set for 7 p.m.
