Police arrest man for punching State Street restaurant employee

Madison police arrested a man after he punched a State Street restaurant employee in the head during a fight Friday night.

Employees at Parthenon Gyros Restaurant, located at 316 State St., were attempting to remove 43-year-old Christopher Hubbard, who was intoxicated and falling asleep at a table, according to Madison Police Department spokesperson Joel DeSpain.

Hubbard was also coughing loudly and spitting up inside the restaurant, according to a police report.

DeSpain said in a statement after the employees asked Hubbard to leave, he became “verbally abusive” and attacked the 35-year-old victim.

After employees told Hubbard the MPD was on its way, Hubbard ran away from the restaurant, according to the police statement.

Madison police then located him inside another downtown establishment and arrested him for battery and disorderly conduct.
