Police interrupt beer pong game to arrest suspects for battery and assault

Police arrested two men as they played beer pong at a house party Saturday following an earlier report of battery on the 400 block of West Washington Avenue, according to a police statement

Juakein Coles, 22, and Joseph Lentz, 23, were arrested on charges of battery and cited for possession of marijuana after police responded to a call, according to Madison Police Department spokesperson Joel DeSpain.

The suspects allegedly attacked a man walking on the 100 block of North Broom Street, according to the report.

When two of the victims’ friends came to meet him on West Washington Avenue, the three men encountered Coles and Lentz again, resulting in another attack, according to DeSpain.

The victims reported being punched repeatedly before the suspects fled and were arrested at a house party by police after witnesses led them there, according to the statement.

Both suspects denied the accusations and remain in jail, according to the report.
