Fake News Friday: Joe Biden stuns nation with dapper specs during State of the Union

President Obama’s State of the Union Address Tuesday night stressed a need for progressive change proactive commitment to improving our nation, and there was perhaps no better example of this than the tasteful yet enticing wire-framed glasses sported by Vice President Joe Biden during the event.

Official statements indicate that Biden was wearing the glasses due to a scratched eye that prevented him from comfortably wearing his usual contact lenses, but experts within the campus fashion community have praised it as a daring fashion statement.

“I get why Big Joe would feel the need to make up an excuse. It’s a tough world out there for the fashion forward,” said University of Wiscsonsin-Madison student and fashion enthusiast Trixie Rabbit in a press release held Wednesday afternoon for a crowd of nearly eight independent bloggers and Instagram frontrunners. “But I think he so totally pulled them off. He looked, like, toally hot. In like a geek chic way.”

Although many social media users are speculating that the shades foreshadow other daring choices for the V.P., particularly the idea of Biden running for president in 2016, the White House did not respond to requests for comment on whether this foray into accessorizing hints at Biden taking a more high-profile political role in the future.

Still, the competition is taking note.

“Don’t think we haven’t seen what he’s up to,” said an unnamed intern from the office of former Secretary of State and anticipated 2016 presidential candidate Hilary Clinton. “I’m not saying Hil is definitely going to run, but I will say that I know for a fact she has a collection of Gucci shades and a pair or two of Ray Bans that could give Biden’s glasses a run for their money.”

President Obama also neglected to comment on this article, although a friend of his daughter Malia Obama, 14, says girl referred to the glasses as “so two thousand and late,” in a Snap Chat sent halfway through her father’s speech.
