Wisconsin sees additional 20,481 in private-sector jobs over twelve-month period

The Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development released a report Friday announcing Wisconsin saw a 20,481 increase in private sector jobs from September 2011 to September 2012.

Despite showing a positive increase, the private sector job growth is less than previous growths over a twelve-month period in the state. The same measurement saw increases of 35,379 jobs between June 2011 and June 2012 and an increase of 39,925 jobs over a twelve-month period ending March 2012.

Private sector growth became a high-profile statistic in Wisconsin after Walker said it was his goal to create 250,000 private sector jobs in his first term as governor.

The recent numbers represent data compiled from 96 percent of Wisconsin businesses and will be compiled into a full report on Quarterly Census of Employment and Wages, which details nationwide employment changes. The QCEW allows for comparisons of specific job growth across all 50 states.
