UPDATE 10:58 p.m.: A perimeter has been set up outside a building in Eagle Heights, according to Ald. Scott Resnick, District 8.
"At this point, I would try to return to your dorm or apartment, and if you do see something suspicious, call 911," Resnick said.
Dane County Public Safety Communications received a call at 9:28 p.m. with reports of shots being fired in the Eagle Heights and University Houses area.
The incident reportedly occurred at 10 University Houses where it crosses with Lake Mendota Drive, according to a Dane County Public Safety Communications supervisor named Kirstin, who declined to give her last name.
Wiscalerts were sent at approximately 10:20 p.m. advising people to stay away from the area.
Police are looking for a black male who they believe to be armed, wearing a red and black flannel shirt, according to the Wiscalert. The suspect was last seen headed west out of University Houses.
This incident falls under the University of Wisconsin-Madison Police Department, according to Dane County Public Safety Communications.
