PricewaterhouseCoopers presented the University of Wisconsin-Madison business school with over $1.1 million Wednesday to help pay for another professor within the school and programs to support students.
The company, which provides financial consulting to businesses, donated the money to fund the Accounting and Information Systems Department within the business school. The donation will be administered to the department over five years.
The donation will be used to create the PwC’s Professor in Accounting chair and provide support for Future is Now, a program that helps students find careers in accounting.
The new Professor in Accounting chair will be filled by Terry Warfield, currently a UW-Madison accounting professor and chair of the Accounting and Information systems department.
PwC’s contribution includes $550,000 from current and retired PwC staff, many of whom are UW-Madison alumni, according to a university release. The remainder of the donation came from PwC matching their employees’ donations.
