Madison police arrested a man Thursday night in connection to a battery that took place outside of a bar on the 400 block of West Gilman Street, according to a Madison police report.
The attack took place at approximately 12:10 a.m., when the suspect shoved a 23-year-old bar patron to the ground and demanded money, according to the report.
He then proceeded to punch a 26-year-old bouncer, knocking him unconscious, after the bouncer noticed the incident and walked over to investigate.
About one hour later, police tracked down a man who fit the victim’s description, 22-year-old Diorian Smith, on the 500 block of West Johnson Street, according to another Madison police report.
Police arrested Smith, who fled on foot when police began questioning him, for resisting arrest and obstructing an officer, but it is unknown at this time if Smith is responsible for the West Gilman Street battery, according to the second report.
