The 2013 President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll recognized the University of Wisconsin-Madison March 4 for playing a major role in encouraging community service work.
The honor roll, first published in 2006, recognizes colleges and universities around the country that help solve their community’s problems and encourage a lifelong commitment to community service for students, according to its website.
UW-Madison was first recognized on the honor roll in 2007, and has also been recognized in 2008-10 and 2012. The honor roll from 2011 was unavailable.
St. Norbert College was the only college from Wisconsin to be honored on the list with distinction. UW-Madison, the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and Ohio State University are the only Big Ten schools to make the list.
A total of 695 colleges and universities were honored on the 2013 honor roll list.
