This week the Associated Students of Madison will host a series of events for Diversity Week to promote awareness and discussion of diversity on campus.
Diversity Week events will highlight a different aspect of diversity each day, including sexuality, disability, religion, gender and multicultural identities.
ASM Diversity Committee Chair Mia Akers said she hopes the events will help students understand the complexity of diversity.
“I want campus to understand that diversity is not just superficial,” Akers said. “It is your culture. It is your identity. It is who you are.”
Student organizations that work with each highlighted aspect of diversity will be involved in events throughout the week.
Students can visit Diversity Week events including workshops, presentations and movie showings Monday through Thursday beginning at 4 p.m. in the Humanities Building. Friday events begin at 6 p.m. in the Education Building.
