Bestselling graphic novelist and cartoonist Alison Bechdel will speak to University of Wisconsin-Madison students Wednesday as part of the Wisconsin Union Directorate’s Distinguished Lecture Series.
Bechdel is best known for her comic strip “Dykes to Watch Out For” and her graphic memoir “Fun Home.” She will discuss issues that she works on in her career, including political awareness and queer identity, according to the event’s website.
Bechdel’s memoir was named one of Time Magazine’s Ten Best Books of the Year in 2006 and she released her second memoir “Are You My Mother: A Comic Drama” in May 2012.
The event will take place at 7 p.m. in the Elvehjem Museum of Art. The event is free and open to the public.
