Police arrest man for pulling knife on downtown bouncer

The Madison Police Department arrested a bar patron early Sunday morning for threatening a bouncer with a knife at Paul’s Club.

Police arrested the patron, 30-year-old Ryan R. Gresmer, at approximately 1:57 a.m. Sunday morning at Paul’s Club on State Street, according to the police report. Gresmer had just arrived at the bar when employees asked him to leave after noting he was too drunk to be served, the manager said in the police report.

When the bouncer attempted to escort Gresmer out of the bar, he pulled out a knife and ordered the bouncer not to touch him. The bouncer then backed off, and employees called the police.

MPD arrested Gresmer for tentative charges of Disorderly Conduct While Armed and Carrying a Concealed Weapon, according to the report.
