Two teens crash cars into UW Arboretum marsh

Two teenagers almost hit a pedestrian when they crashed their cars into the Redwing Marsh of the University of Wisconsin-Madison Arboretum Tuesday, according to a University of Wisconsin-Madison Police Department press release.

Witnesses said the drivers, both 16 years old, were speeding when they lost control around a curve on Arboretum Drive. They just missed a runner, who told police she had to “dart across the road” to avoid being hit.

UWPD cited the teens with reckless driving and endangering safety, and also cited a 17-year-old passenger with underage alcohol possession, although no one involved in the crash was intoxicated.

No one was injured in the incident.
