Since Gary Andersen has taken over at the helm, turnover within the Badger football program has been dramatic and it grew even more dramatic Tuesday, as Wisconsin assistant strength coach Brian Bott has resigned due to family reasons. While his contract lasts until Sunday, Bott announced the move June 10 to the players, according to Tom Mulhern of the Wisconsin State Journal.
When former head coach Bret Bielema and a slew of his staffers left for Arkansas last December, it was uncertain if Bott would be retained by Andersen or possibly promoted to head strength and conditioning coach after Ben Herbert left. Evan Simon, former strength coach at Utah State with Andersen, ended up securing the position but Bott was still retained.
"In December, I had probably a 15-minute conversation with coach Andersen," Bott told Mulhern. "I told him I wanted to stay. He told me he wanted me to be a part of the program.”
Bott was one of the most tenured football staffers, having been with the program since 2000.
