Two males on bicycles approached a 39-year-old man on the 100 block of South Bassett Street early Monday morning and stole a sum of cash the man pulled out of his pocket, according to a city incident report.
Police describe the suspects as a 20- to 22-year-old black male who is 5 feet 9 inches to 5 feet 10 inches tall and 145 pounds and a 20- to 22-year-old black male who is 5 feet 7 inches and 135 pounds.
At approximately 1:05 a.m. the bicyclists approached the victim and asked if he would buy one of the bikes for $5, according to a report by Madison Police Department Spokesperson Joel DeSpain. The victim asked the suspects if the bike was stolen, to which one suspect responded it was not.
The victim pulled a sum of cash from his pocket, according to the report. One suspect grabbed the money from his hand and both suspects rode away.
The report said the bikes were described as dark in color with women’s-style frames. The victim said one might have been a Huffy-brand bike, according to the report.
