Homecoming Week wraps up Friday with annual parade

After a jam-packed week of Badger pride events ranging from Air Band at the Terrace to day-long blood and food drives, Homecoming Week at the University of Wisconsin-Madison wraps up this weekend with the annual UW Homecoming parade Friday.

The Homecoming Committee, with support from the Wisconsin Alumni Association, organizes the annual celebrations. Its mission is to “bring together the Badger community by providing opportunities to honor the Wisconsin tradition.”

The Homecoming parade will begin at 6 p.m. at the 600 block of Wisconsin Avenue. It will continue onto Gilman Street and then to the 500 and 600 blocks of State Street. No traffic will be permitted to enter the route during the parade.

Several streets downtown will also be closed during certain times for the parade. Langdon Street from Lake Street to Wisconsin Avenue and the 600 block of Lake Street will be blocked off from 4 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Additionally, the 600 block of Wisconsin Avenue, 400 block of West Gilman Street, and 600 and 700 blocks of State Street will be blocked off from 5:30 to 7:30p.m.. The 500 and 600 blocks of Lake Street and Langdon between Park Street and Wisconsin Avene will also be closed during this time.

Do not forget to catch the Homecoming Game vs Northwestern Saturday at 2:30 p.m.
