Isabel Suppé, inspirational speaker, to visit UW-Madison and discuss new book

Isabel Suppé, an inspirational writer, speaker and climber will visit the University of Wisconsin-Madison Tuesday to discuss her recently released book, “Starry Night,” which details her path to survival after falling 400 meters in the Andes mountains in July 2010.

After the fall, Suppé spent two days and nights dragging herself to the other side of the mountain, into Bolivia. She was eventually rescued and underwent ten complicated surgeries to save her right foot.

Two months after her last operation and still unable to place any weight on her injured foot, Suppé climbed another Andean peak, Dos Conos, on crutches. A month later, she finished the first female unaccompanied climb of Mount Cachi, one of the Andes’ highest mountains.

The event is free and will be held in the Memorial Union at 7 p.m.
