Parents of University of Wisconsin-Madison students who speak Mandarin will have access to campus resources in a new section of the Parent Program website written in Mandarin, according to a university news release.
UW-Madison’s Visitor & Information Programs coordinates the Parent Program, which is a system that connects parents of UW-Madison students to campus resources.
Content on the website’s Mandarin page contains information about campus safety, developing friendships, health and wellness, and finances, similar to the English language site, according to the release.
Students from China make up the largest international undergraduate student population on campus, the release said.
Parent Program specialist Stephanie Benson-Gonzales said in the release it can be challenging for parents to know how to support their students when they are in another time zone and an unfamiliar culture.
“By sharing photos, student quotes and information about key resources and services, we hope to empower parents to support their students’ success,” Benson-Gonzales said in the release.
