A search and screen committee will meet Friday, Saturday and Sunday to interview candidates to replace University of Wisconsin System President Kevin Reilly.
The search and screen committee consists of Board of Regents members, former Regents, faculty, custodians, students and others with leadership roles in the UW system.
The committee was created in August after current UW System President Kevin Reilly announced that he was stepping down.
According to the UW System spokesperson David Giroux, the committee’s goal is to learn about the candidates and eventually narrow them down to a shorter list of finalists who will undergo more interviews later this year.
The committee hopes to announce the final recommendation for the new president in January. The preferred candidate will need to be approved by the full Board of Regents. Until the new president is elected, UW-Whitewater Chancellor Richard Telfer will serve as interim president effective January 1.
