Football: Badgers accept bid to Jan. 1 Capital One Bowl

For the tenth consecutive season, No. 19 Wisconsin is heading to the postseason.

It was announced Sunday the Badgers (6-2 Big Ten, 9-3 overall) accepted a bid to appear in the Capitol One Bowl against South Carolina (6-2 SEC, 10-2) Jan. 1.

Wisconsin has played at the Florida Citrus Bowl Stadium in Orlando, Fla., four times in the last 10 years, winning three games, with two coming against higher-ranked teams.

Senior and then-freshman linebacker Chris Borland is the only active Badger who played in the Badgers' last appearance there, the 2009 Champs Sports Bowl. He recorded two tackles for loss, including a sack.

South Carolina put together a stellar season in the SEC, going 6-2 against solid competition, and boasts one of the best defensive players in the country, junior defensive end Jadaveon Clowney.

I know they're going to be very balanced offensively," Andersen said. "They want to be able to run the football. They obviously can throw the ball effectively, very talented offense and a defense that can make a bunch of plays with some special players."
