The Associated Students of Madison Student Services Finance Committee approved Badger Catholic’s 2014-’15 budget in a unanimous decision Thursday.
According to its website, Badger Catholic is a faith-based ministry that provides national service trips, peer mentorship programs and Alpha Omega, a weekly speaker series.
“For the most part, I am really comfortable with this budget,” SSFC Rep. Devon Maier said.
SSFC approved the $95,755.80 budget 11-0 with one abstention.
SSFC then heard a budget hearing from Supporting Peers In Laidback Listening. SPILL is an organization that aims to help students through an anonymous peer-based online support system, SPILL President Laura Roberson said.
SPILL leaders presented a budget of $42,789.25, which is a $1,763.35 increase from the
previous year. SPILL increased the advertising portion of the budget to ensure its services would be better broadcasted.
“We have made it our goal to increase our marketing,” SPILL Vice President of Finance Jessica Gartzke said.
SSFC Rep. Callen Raveret questioned why SPILL added the position of vice president of marketing to the list of paid staff, since in the past it has been a non-paid position, but SPILL representatives said they hoped this increase would attract more qualified candidates and increase the work dedicated to marketing.
SSFC will decide SPILL’s final budget Monday.
